Product Description

Commonly referred to as the Prince of Preachers, Charles Haddon Spurgeon was born in England and gave his life to God at age 16. Almost immediately, he became active in spreading the gospel by passing out tracts on street corners, organizing outreach programs, and attracting crowds with his captivating sermons.

Drawn by his enthusiastic preaching style and practical application of Scripture, thousands flocked to hear him and were converted to Christ through his ministry. He frequently preached to more than 10,000 people. Today, he remains one of the most quoted and mdash;and revered and mdash;preachers since the apostle Paul. His sermons were published weekly in London newspapers and were eventually collected in fifty volumes.

This book highlights the messages of Charles Spurgeon. The language has been gently modernized for greater relevance to contemporary times, but none of the spiritual substance has been diluted. The material is profound, thought-provoking, and life-changing, but easy to follow. This is the perfect book to help you dig deeper and be challenged to expand your faith.

Product Description

Charles Spurgeon was a simple country lad who went on to become one of the best-known preachers in London, Europe and the world. Caught in a snowstorm one night Charles snuck into the back pew of a dusty country chapel. He had no idea that as well as escaping the freezing temperatures outside he would be faced with the most important decision of his life. A wrinkled old man started to preach. Charles thought it would be a thoroughly boring service – but with the words “Look unto Jesus and be saved!” a cold and grumpy teenager began to realise that God’s word can change you, completely! The simple country lad became a man who mixed with princes and beggars. He spoke words that touched the hearts of rich and poor alike. His fame became so widespread that it is reputed that even Queen Victoria attended one of his sermons. The Queen of England came to listen to the Prince of Preachers. But Charles was more concerned about the King of Kings – Jesus Christ.

• Active Table of Contents - Quick and easy navigation by volume and Psalm.
• Beautiful Illustrations - 10 original illustrations from the book of Psalms.

This work was first published in weekly installments over a twenty-year span in the London Metropolitan Tabernacle's periodical, The Sword and the Trowel.

Completed sections were released volume by volume, until the seventh and final volume was released in 1885. Within a decade more than 120,000 sets had been sold. The Treasury of David is a superb literary achievement. Eric Hayden, pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle a century after Spurgeon's ministry began there, calls this work "Spurgeon's magnum opus." Spurgeon's wife said that if Spurgeon had never written any other work, this would have been a permanent literary memorial.

About the Author
Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 – January 31, 1892) was a British Baptist preacher, still known as the "Prince of Preachers". In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and later had to leave that denomination. Throughout his life, Spurgeon suffered from depression and other mental illnesses. In 1857, he started a charity organisation called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
